RUMS TENNIS CLUB

Rums Tennis is a sports club which prides itself on being inclusive, fun and engaging. With players of all abilities and ages within the medical school we encourage an environment of support and teamwork amongst our members.
RUMS is a society which has been established since 1998, formed from the merging of three medical schools, Royal Free, University College and Middlesex. Our crest represents these three schools: the ship is a symbol of UCH, the lion for the Royal Free and the cutlasses represent Middlesex. The Rod of Asclepius is the international symbol of medicine.
Achievements

For the last 5 years in a row, RUMS Tennis has won the United Hospitals cup. This competition involves 5 medical schools within London: King's College (GKT), Imperial (ICSM), Barts (BL), St George's (SGUL) and UCL (RUMS). Originally established for inter-university rugby matches, this is the oldest rugby cup competition in the world.
This year our Men’s second team came second in the BUCS league (British University and Colleges sport), the forefront of university sport in the United Kingdom. This is a huge achievement for the club and we're really proud of the team. We're hoping to smash some more BUCS goals this year with our new squad.
In light of the Black Lives Matter movement which gained momentum earlier in the year, RUMS Tennis committed to aiding the movement by fundraising for Black Minds Matter, an amazing charity which connects the black community to therapists and specialists trained in mental health. As a club with zero tolerance for racism this was an important feat for all of us. Many of our members took part in a volley challenge we arranged and raised just shy of £1000 for this inspiring cause.

We look forward to holding many more fundraisers this year.
